Lessons
- Write the resume for remote work, not office work. One page. Lead with the lane, then the tools, then transferable experience framed as the client's need. Put measurable things in wherever you can.
- OnlineJobs.ph: complete profile, ID verification badge, full skills list, portfolio link, and a realistic salary expectation checked against similar profiles. This is the largest hub of employers specifically looking for Filipino remote staff, mostly US and Australian small businesses, and there are no bidding fees.
- Upwork: a specific title, not "Virtual Assistant." The overview opens with the client's problem, not your biography. Upload the portfolio items directly rather than only linking out.
- LinkedIn: same headline, same portfolio link, a clear photo.
- Join the Facebook groups where a large share of first hires actually happen: Virtual Assistants Philippines, Pinoy Virtual Assistants, Home Based Filipino Freelancers, Cyberpinoy VA, and the OnlineJobs.ph community. Read for a week before posting.
