Understand the work

- Goal
- Know exactly what VAs do, who hires them, and what the market is paying — before you decide anything.
- Roughly
- 10 hours. Half watching, half reading real job posts.
Watch first
- How to Become a Pinoy Virtual Assistant (No Experience Needed!) | Step-by-Step GuidePROF HANZ | WFH (821K views) (opens in a new tab)
- Paano Maging VA Kahit Wala Kang ExperienceChinkee Tan (140K views, posted this year) (opens in a new tab)
- How to Become a Virtual Assistant with No Experience and BudgetChad Godoy (130K views) (opens in a new tab)
Lessons
- Learn the task categories that exist: inbox management, calendar, data entry, customer support, bookkeeping, social media, lead research, travel booking, CRM upkeep, e-commerce listings.
- Read 30 real job posts — 15 on OnlineJobs.ph, 15 on Upwork. Do not apply yet. Write down every tool name and task that appears more than twice.
- Note the rates attached to those posts. Build a realistic picture rather than an inherited one.
- List your own transferable experience honestly. Retail, BPO, teaching, church or barangay admin, running a family business, managing a group chat for an event — all of it counts when framed as the skill a client needs.
- Apply for a free TESDA or DICT VA batch now (see the Resource Library at the back). Slots are limited and application windows are short, so send it early and keep learning while you wait.
